Appeal Beak

Laura, the Instructor

Laura (or Lars) gives instructions and offers solutions. She takes a very active part in the conversation. For her, communication is always also behaviour-steering.

"You do it, please!"

Play recommendations

  • Formulate clear calls to action.
  • Use questions to steer behaviour.
  • Wrap appeals in factual arguments or relationship signals.
  • Add urgency or responsibility.
  • Actively steer the conversation in your preferred direction.
Two variants

Open appeals: direct, clear, demanding.

Hidden appeals: indirect via praise/blame or "objective" necessities.

👉 Rule of thumb: Control of others' thoughts and actions before relationship or content.
Risk

Suspicion of manipulation, overstepping, instrumentalisation – everything becomes a means to an end.

Body language

  • Active, space-taking posture.
  • Clear gestures, often pointing and forward-directed.
  • Direct eye contact, looking for reaction.
  • Palpable forward drive.

  • "Would you be so kind as to…?"
  • "It would be important now that…"
  • "What we need now is…"
  • "Surely you'd also want…"
  • "That would be the next logical step…"
